So I came across the 80′s movie Purple Rain on TV this morning, I immediately thought WOW this is how people look now…we have come full circle. The movie Purple Rain to its credit is not that terrible. People get to see a young Prince in the prime of his career and really at his creative peak. Well, if your idea of the greatest band would be a mix of Prince and Arcade Fire, you will love Blood Orange.
Devonte Hayes is the man behind the name Blood Orange and he is a talented young singer songwriter . In his young career, he has already worked with Solange Knowles and Florence and the Machine. His music is a smooth blend of R&B grooves meets a Hip Hop sensibility. His new album Cupid Deluxe is due in stores this coming Tuesday or you can get the rip on I-Tunes as we speak. Most Blood Orange songs could have fit beautifully in the movie Drive Or Grand Theft Auto Five. Sounding like a young Prince is never a bad thing….maybe Blood Orange will be coming to a theater near you soon! In any case until that day, we have some good tunes to hold us over.
